St. Anne’s Catholic Primary School, Solihull

TSH won an architectural competition to design a new two form entry primary school in Chelmsley Wood, Solihull.

The project formed part of the wider North Solihull regeneration programme, bringing together St. Anne’s and St. Patrick’s Catholic Primary Schools into a new school building located on the existing St. Anne’s site.

The new school is open plan, with classrooms arranged around a central, two storey, resource area and the main hall. This provides flexibility and adaptability, offering opportunities for teaching one to one through to groups of 60 or more, depending on the needs.

The layout and massing of the school, together with the arrangement of the adjacent playground spaces, successfully play down the scale of the building, creating a school which is welcoming to both children and visitors.

“Thanks for all your hard work in designing the new St. Anne’s. You have done a splendid job… we are extremely proud of our new building.”
